Ten percent fewer deaths
For 2009, the Federal Statistical Office expects a decline in road deaths by around ten percent. The estimates put the expected number of persons killed on German roads to 4 050 people. This would reach a new low statistics.
Also among the injured, the Office anticipates a positive development and expects the full year, with 392 000 persons injured. Compared with 2008, the equivalent to a minus four percent. The number of accidents is to be about 2.29 million in the previous year. While in crashes involving personal injury is expected to decline by four percent to 306 500 accidents are collisions with damage expected to increase by about one percent to 1.99 million cases.
